Referrers' page
We help families with young children through a combination of home visiting, group support and social activities.
Who can be referred?
Home-Start Rotherham offers an open referral policy ensuring that support is available to any family in the borough experiencing some sort of stress or difficulty.
The families we help must have at least one child under the age of 5 years.
Who can make referrals?
Families can refer themselves, or be referred to Home-Start Rotherham by any agency working with young children, e.g. health visitor, social worker, family support worker, CPN, nursery.
How do I make a referral?
- Establish that the family has at least one child under the age of five - this is key to Home-Start support
- Discuss Home-Start Rotherham with the family - they MUST agree to receive Home-Start support
- Download and complete a referral form, which indicates the family's needs, or you can contact our office on 01709 829165 and speak to a member of our team.
What happens next?
- We set up an initial visit with the family to discuss their needs and tell them about Home-Start Rotherham
- We carefully match the skills and experiences of a volunteer to the needs of the family
- We introduce the volunteer to the family - this may take time and if a suitable match cannot be made then you will be informed
- We let you know when Home-Start support starts and ends
- We keep you informed, within confidentiality guidelines, about progress
