Being a volunteer
There are 168 hours in a week...can you spare 3?
All parents know that those early years before children go off to school are vital in a child's life. At Home-Start we believe parents have the key role in creating a secure childhood for their children. It's just that sometimes they need a bit of help...your help.
Home-Start Rotherham has a good reputation within the Voluntary Sector, providing opportunities for volunteers to develop new skills, meet new people, feel valued and have fun.
Our staff are there to support you to ensure that you get the most from your volunteering experience.
Quick guide to becoming a Home-Start volunteer
- You must be a parent or have parenting experience

- You will have to attend our free 10 week volunteer preparation course with other new potential volunteers before being linked with your first family - travel expenses are paid during training and while you support a family
- You will have to undergo a criminal record check at enhanced level
- You will be supported by Home-Start Rotherham during the time you are visiting families
